A leading industrial packaging enterprise in China is one of the major domestic manufacturers of hollow blow molded containers. Its product portfolio covers a full range of chemical, food-grade and hazardous goods transport & storage containers with capacities from 5L to 1,000L. The client required multiple sets of blow molds for IBC tank liners, 200L open-top drums, 200L tight-head drums and stackable barrels.

Challenges And Difficulties

The molds from the former supplier presented a wall thickness deviation of up to ±0.50 mm at the four corners and bottom ring of IBC tank liners.

Temperature differences can easily cause condensation on the duct surface. Additionally, the airflow noise (hissing) must be strictly controlled to prevent noise from entering the passenger cabin. This poses challenges to both material and structural design.

Solutions

We delivered a total of 5 sets of blow molds covering IBC tanks and chemical drums. The average lead time was 105 days, well within the target of 120 days. The average first-year scrap rate stood at 0.9%, lower than the required maximum of 1.5%. The earliest delivered IBC mold has run for 160,000 shots without major maintenance. Equipped with our molds, the client achieved a substantial increase in annual output and saw remarkable growth in business share across the European market.
